Featured Speakers at Capital Defense Seminar
Based on their involvement with representing Lee Boyd Malvo (named as one of the “Beltway Snipers” by the media) throughout the duration of that high profile capital murder case, Mark Petrovich and Thomas Walsh were asked to speak (along with colleague Craig Cooley) at a capital defense seminar in Richmond, Virginia in November, 2005. The two attorneys instructed more than 200 attorneys (from Fairfax County, Alexandria, Prince William County and throughout Virginia) on the topic of obtaining witnesses from outside Virginia - both nationally and internationally.
While the seminar was designed for instruction on defending clients charged with capital murder, the topic addressed by Mr. Petrovich and Mr. Walsh has applications in any trial where an important witness may be located in a different state. That issue is particularly vital in Northern Virginia, where there are two other state jurisdictions (Maryland and D.C.) close by.
